DREAM THEATER – Lost Not Forgotten Archives; Master of Puppets – Live in Barcelona (2021)

DREAM THEATER are pleased to announce the upcoming re-release of one of the most sought-after entries in the band’s previously recorded Ytsejam Records catalog: “Master of Puppets”. The next entry in the Lost Not Forgotten Archives series will see this remastered edition of the band’s historic presentation from Barcelona, Spain, of Metallica’s 6x-certified platinum record, performed live in its entirety in 2002.
Here, Dream Theater cover Master of Puppets without drawing attention to themselves. Mike Portnoy does not grandstand and overplay. Nobody does. If the effort was to do an authentic version of Puppets, as close to note for note as possible, then I say mission accomplished. Beat for beat, this is stunningly true to the original album… with a Dream Theater flavor.
And it’s awesome…

Continuing with their ‘Lost Not Forgotten Archives’ series, DREAM THEATER and record label InsideOutMusic are about to release the third installment in the ‘Lost Not Forgotten Archives’ series, comprising the instrumental demos from Dream Theater’s monumental 2003 studio album, Train Of Thought.
Lost Not Forgotten Archives; Train Of Thought Instrumental Demos” is another volume from the virtuosic quintet’s long-standing Ytsejam Records catalogue reissued, alongside some brand-new additions to this special collector’s series.
As part of ‘Lost Not Forgotten Archives’, the entirety of the collection will be reissued on CD, as well as for the very first time on vinyl and digital, with brand new artwork and packaging. The band have also been busy digging into their encyclopedic vault to find some very special, previously unreleased material…

The first brand new release in the reinvigorated archival series was the a recording of the band’s start-to-finish performance of their classic second ever studio album, ‘Images and Words’, taken from their performance at Tokyo, Japan’s legendary Budokan venue in September of 2017.
Following this inaugural ‘Lost Not Forgotten Archives’ release, “A Dramatic Tour of Events Select Board Mixes”, including recordings from all concerts at different parts of the world.
It’s funny, but when we speak about Dream Theater, ‘Board Mixes’ sound like a professional studio recording!

One of you asked for DREAM THEATER‘s “Images And Words” in its Japanese SHM-CD version. Appeared some years ago, this was the only press on this format, a Limited Edition, and of course, Out Of Print now.
Dream Theater’s first album When Dream And Day Unite showed potential of this amazing band, and it appeared in its fullest with this album featuring Canadian vocalist James LaBrie and the glossy production by master David Prater.
Simply put, “Images And Words” is a truly magnificent album, putting the virtuoso abilities of its members to good use without once sacrificing melody and songwriting quality. It deserves the praise it gets

Earlier in 2020, before the touring industry was shuttered by the coronavirus pandemic, Dream Theater embarked on a special tour to commemorate the historic release and its two-decade milestone.
This concert was captured at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, UK, last February, and the band performance is amazing.

JOHN PETRUCCI – Terminal Velocity (2020)
