SKYHIGH – Tales From The Crib (1996) Rare Albums

SKYHIGH - Tales From The Crib (1996) Rare Albums full

Here’s this requested rarity, “Tales From The Crib“, the only album by indie US Melodic Hard Rockers SKYHIGH, released by themselves in the Nineties. Being sold at eBay for over $ 250, this is a collectors piece and well worth the listen.
The style on “Tales From The Crib” has been compared to Warrant, mainly because Steve Carnevale’s vocal color is quite similar to the late Jani Lane. Of course this is US MHR circa 1987-89, so there’s aplenty comparison with acts from the era.

The creator of $KYHIGH – that’s the band’s proper name, with a ‘$’, some kind of a premonition on how a CD copy of “Tales From The Crib” cost these days – is skilled guitarist & songwriter Rich Antonelli, still active today with several projects, such as the recent work with guitarist Eddie LaValle (LaValle) and keyboard wizard Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Edge of Forever) for an upcoming album, to be announced.

Hailing from Rhode Island, $KYHIGH toured the area and had supporting slots for Honeymoon Suite, White Lion, Cinderella, Sebastian Bach, Slaughter, Living Colour, Enuff Z’nuff and… Warrant.
Yes, there’s influences from all these, especially their 80s years, via some really catchy tunes, nice solos and polished harmony vocals.

While the album cover does not reflect the music to play, the material here is mostly Melodic Hard Rock, we find a couple of AORish numbers as well, a even a cover of The Beatles classic “Let It Be” very well done.
Rare, unknown album, but good, very enjoyable.
