THUNDER – Christmas Day (2017)

THUNDER - Christmas Day (2017) full

It’s time for a holiday celebration with THUNDER — before what promises to be a very busy 2018 gets underway. The band is releasing today December 1st a limited edition EP titled “Christmas Day“, to bookend a very successful phase in its career, which culminated with two studio albums in a row entering the U.K. Top 10 chart.

“Christmas Day” is more of a timeless ballad than it is a traditional festive carol and the song reveals the band in a new light. The heartfelt, melancholic track features a stunning and evocative arrangement from guitarist Luke Morley to accompany the unique voice of singer Danny Bowes.
“It wasn’t part of a grand plan,” says frontman Bowes. “We recorded the Christmas Day song back in 2014, during the Wonder Days sessions. We always liked the tune, but it felt wrong to put it on an album, so we decided to wait until the right time presented itself to get it out there”

“We’ve also been asked maybe a couple of thousand times for an acoustic version of ‘Love Walked In’ (it seems our fans wanted it for their weddings). We resisted for years, I’m not entirely sure why, but this year it felt right to give it a go, so we stripped it right back and played around with the arrangement.”

The EP also features acoustic versions of ‘Low Life In High Places’ and ‘Heartbreak Hurricane’, the latter recorded live. It’s being released on CD Digipak and Digital, while limited fan items and bundles, including a 7-inch, 2-track vinyl single and a coloured 10inch 4-track vinyl, are available from the THUNDER webstore.
