Great Lefty: Live Forever! [Tribute to Tony Iommi Godfather Of Metal] (2015) full

Released today May 4, “Great Lefty: Live Forever – Tribute To Tony Iommi, Godfather Of Metal”, is the first-ever tribute to Black Sabbath’s riffmaster.
Tanzan Music and ‘Tony Iommi Fan-Tastic’ team of Iommi supporters together with Facebook communities ‘Tony Iommi The Man The Master The Legend’ and ‘Global Black Sabbath Convention’ have propelled the contribution of well known artists to create this double-disc recording.

When Tony Iommi was diagnozed with Lymphoma cancer in 2011, followed by extensive chemo and radiotherapy, it was a hard shock for the metal community.
Millions of fans world wide took to social networking pages to express both dismay and support for him. The horrible illness wasn’t able to stop him working on a new album.
And still undergoing therapy, Tony managed to play over 84 concerts all around the world with Black Sabbath.
At the moment his prognosis is believed to be good.

Some of the musicians involved include Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, Dio), Barry Goudreau (Boston), Hugh McDonald (Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Lita Ford), Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio Disciples, Dokken), Tony Martin (Black Sabbath, Mollo / Martin), Victor Griffin (Pentagram), Mario Parga (Graham Bonnett, Forcefield, Cozy Powell’s Hammer), Dario Mollo (Tony Martin, Voodoo Hill), Giuntini Project, and more.
But there’s also the best Black Sabbath tribute bands from all around the world, and the bands and solo artists ‘children of Iommi’ as having Iommi’s music as their major influence.

The covers from the artists already established into the scene such as Dario Mollo / Mark Boals doing an awesome version of “Never Say Die”, or Giuntini / Tony Martin on the atmospheric “Anno Mundi” (I love this song) are the main attraction on this double-CD.
But the real treat is to listen some pretty unknown bands doing some really good, heartfelt renditions to these classic songs.
Tribute bands like Children Of The Gravy deliver a stupendous take on “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, or Blood Sabbath performing “Snowblind” with a true early Black Sabbath feel.

Special mention to young talented singer & songwriter Kyle Cousins, a huge Iommi Fan, who also happens to have autism. He began his journey with autism at two years old by losing all his language. Through years of intensive interventions he has made continual progress; so much so that now he loves nothing better than to express himself onstage through his music.
Kyle Cousins expresses his love and admiration to Black Sabbath’s guitar legend performing a killer version of “Heaven And Hell”, and you only have words of admiration for his performance.

“Great Lefty: Live Forever – Tribute To Tony Iommi, Godfather Of Metal” is an excellent tribute album to one of the living legends and creator of the heavy metal genre, Mr. Tony Iommi.
Properly, representative chosen songs, very good musicians / bands and, worth to mention, fantastic production. Tribute albums are sometimes disparate in quality production, not here as all come sonically really cohesive.
Go and buy this double CD, support this movement in favour of the legendary guitarist.
